At Mataura School, we believe that education is about sparking curiosity and building the character needed to navigate a changing world. Mahi Tahi is our school motto that has been here for almost 100 years, it means we work together as one. We focus on being:

Respectful: Creating a supportive environment where every student feels they belong.

Responsible: Empowering our tamariki to face challenges with a "can-do" attitude.

Safe: Learning how to accept challenges and be safe within those challenges.

We pride ourselves on our small-school feel, which allows us to truly know each student and tailor their learning journey. We are focusing on providing rich experiences in our local community which spark learning is the core learning areas of reading, writing, and maths. These strengths will allow learners to access all avenues of learning in their future lives.
