At Mataura School we have developed a bilingual class setting that is operating with 50-80% of the teaching being presented in te reo Māori. The students not only get taught in tikanga Māori context they continue to also learn in English. They have daily lessons in reading, writing, and mathematics in English. Everyday student are extending their vocabulary through the modelling, teaching, and structure of this classroom.
